PULSE® Performance Insoles FAQs

PULSE Performance is designed specifically for athletic impact and running dynamics, featuring the ShockAbsorb™ foam and sport-ready cushioning plus stable support for mild to moderate pronation. Pinnacle is more oriented to all-day wear and general support rather than athletic performance.

Yes. The combination of shock-absorbing foam and neutral arch support helps reduce strain on the plantar fascia during foot strike and throughout the gait cycle.

No. PULSE Performance comes in full-length sizes; they’re designed to fit the size range without trimming.

Yes, if the shoe has removable liners and enough space. They’re built for athletic usage but can be transferred to walking shoes or casual footwear that accept full-length inserts.

Many users report improved comfort, reduced impact fatigue, and better alignment within a few runs (or within 1-2 weeks of regular use), depending on pronation severity and shoe fit.

Reviews

Helpful but. .

"These are helpful but I have to wear shoes with a wide toe box. These are narrow and so my toes slip and slide all over from the insert to the bottom of the shoe where the gap is. I wish they’d make a wider toe box option. Most feet are not the shape of this insert!"

These were great for my son!!

"Recommended by my sons physical therapist. They have helped alot in walking and building strength after two reconstructive knee surgeries. A great deal and was quick getting them to us."

Chelsea A. (5/5)

Best orthotics!

"I did a lot of research before choosing these orthotics & I am very pleased with them. I've already purchased 2, bought a pair for my partner, sent info to a friend who purchased 2 & continue to refer others!"

Leanne P. (5/5)

Great purchase

"I am very happy with my PowerStep Pulse Performance insoles. I am a personal trainer and therefore spend many hours on my feet. I struggle with lower back pain after standing on my feet for about 2 hours. But since I began wearing the PowerStep Pulse insoles, my lower back pain is significantly reduced. My lower back still gets tight, but it’s after 4 or so hours rather than pan after 2 hours."

Alexis G. (5/5)

Awesome

"I love these. I thought running was over, but I have been able to run with no pain"

Isabel V. (5/5)

Running insole

"The best running insole i have ever used! It feels lighter yet is still supportive"

Paul G. (5/5)

Good for most days, just not all day every day.

"This certainly takes some pressure off the hammer toe deformity but is not an all-day solution. Like all Power Step insoles, it is mostly comfortable."

Dave L. (4/5)

"Delivery was so quick. And it seems to be really helping my feet so I will be ordering extra pairs."

Kellorn (5/5)

Good purchase

"This helped me wear shoes all day that before would cause me pain in my feet. Good support."

Sally H. (5/5)

Power Step Pulse Performance

"Great insoles for running and provide enough support."

Q&A

What is the weight rating for the insoles?
We don’t have a specific weight rating or limit on our orthotics, however each of our Pinnacle and PULSE series uses a firm-but-flexible arch support shell designed to hold up under a wide range of body weights and activity levels. Foot Doc Zach actually put it to the test in a video showing how well a PowerStep orthotic holds up - even after being run over by a car. You can check it out here: https://youtube.com/shorts/V6WhFy1riXo?si=tyDirBIb9N4Gvp2q
Would you recommend these pulse for jogging, workout out and maybe playing basketball? But I also have pretty flat feet, plantar fasciitis and just now got bone spurs in my heel
Hi Adon! We’d recommend checking out our bridge insole. It features an adaptable arch support system designed to work with all arch heights, along with energizing memory foam that provides up to 55% energy return to help keep your steps feeling more responsive.
What's the heel drop on these, and does it varies from different models?
Hi Edison, the heel drop on our PULSE Performance is .156". It does vary slightly from model to model. You can find the heel drop in the specs image on each product page.
Can these be moved to my boots in the winter? Or are they only suited for athletic shoes? Second unrelated question - are these ok to try for flat arches? Or would the Maxx definitely be better there?
Hi Sunny! As long as your boots and shoes are the same size, there should be no issue moving them from one pair to the other. As far as arches, both our Pinnacle Maxx and PULSE Performance are designed with a neutral arch support shell. If you want a low arch specific option then we'd recommend our Pinnacle Low.
Do these inserts work for someone with arthritis in both knees & walks a lot
Hi Jane! The right arch support can improve alignment and help redistribute pressure, which may reduce stress on the knee in cases of arthritis. We encourage you to use our Insole Finder to help find the right arch support and PowerStep orthotic for your specific needs.
